The actual IR transmission contains far more data than these small codes can hold. What exactly those codes represent? How can 4 digits represent all the commands a device can receive? Are these "codes" references to some standard protocol? How do the universal remote knows the protocol and all the codes the product understands from this small configuration code? I would love to understand more about this technology.
