I recently landed a job offer with this big company. They promised to take care of all the paper work (visa fee, medical, flight ticket etc). After signing my offer letter plus cotract which stated a specific start date, I was asked to resign from my current job.
Everything seemed in order and so I handed in my resignition and also served my landlord with a 'vacate' notice.
Two weeks after me leaving my job ( a day to my start date at the new job and a day before vacating my house), they sent an email that I should handle all the paper work by myself. I don't have enough money to do that and plus, that meant I should pay my next month's rent. I somehow managed to take care of everything(atleast for this month), and yet no promise on the new start date.
Now am jobless and hopeless. I feel like I should hold my new employers accountable for this. What are the legal steps??

  • Clearly that depends on local laws. Where are you located? (BTW - the tags you chose make no sense).
