Inspired by Is it appropriate to attend a minority career fair when I'm not a minority?

The linked post talks about a "minority career fair". Imagine for a second that instead, we have a "white career fair". The outrage would be tremendous, with cries of discrimination from all sides. I'm not sure if it would technically be illegal (although I suspect it would be), but it would certainly be viewed as incredibly racist (and rightfully so).

Now, back to the "minority career fair". Legally, would it be any less discriminatory than my hypothetical situation above? Wouldn't any applicable discrimination laws apply equally to both situations?
