About 6 weeks ago I made a request for a German Work visa in the German embassy of my home country. I have a contract to work a a software developer in Hamburg with a 55k+ salary. I handed over all the required documents including a pre-approval letter from the federal employment agency, I was told that that document would speed up the process, yet that wasn't the case.

About 2 weeks after my visa request I received a call telling me to bring a Job description letter and a CV, the CV was included in my application documents and I told the consular officer that so she said only to bring her the Job description letter, which I did and haven't heard back from them since. To this day I don't even know if the consular officer got the document given that she didn't received it directly and had the embassy's security officer do it for her. I tried inquiring by email, and the response I got was pretty much a copy paste of the information on the embassy's website telling me that the process could take up to 3 months, with no specific information about my case and asking me to wait for their call and not to do any further inquiries.

I'm a bit worried because my contract start date was sept 17 and I wonder if that might have any negative effects in the process, my employer doesn't have any issues with that, they said that they could wait for me until I got my visa approved. I resigned to my previous position given that I was not expecting a lengthy visa process and this limbo situation makes it complicated for me to look for another job while I don't know if I'll receive the visa in a few days, weeks, months or not receive it at all.

Does anyone has experience with long waiting times for German Work visas or have been in a similar situation?

Thanks in advance.
