One of my colleagues told me that one of his family members has a problem with health. Last few days he was very very sad, so I wanted to ask him if everything is ok or not? In my country where I originally came from it's ok to discuss any questions between colleagues (even so personal), but I'm not sure is it ok or not to ask such personal questions in North America. I want to support him, but I don't want to be not polite.
