I interned with a company headquartered in Detroit. I really liked the job and they liked me, and I was offered a full time position with them after I graduate. However, I live in New York, and really want to stay here after I graduate. I asked for more time from the company, since graduation is 6 months from now, but they said they couldn't give any more time. I had to sign the offer since it met my expectation, and I wanted to have a good backup in case things didn't work out. What do I do if I end up getting a job in the New York area? I know I am not obligated to take the job, but isn't it considered rude to not take an offer after you sign? Doesn't it burn bridges? I consider it unfair that the company didn't give me more time to decide. Please let me know what's best now, in the situation I get an offer here in New York before the 6 months is up.
